History and Mission
In the year 2004, a group of young enthusiastic members of the St.
Thomas Indian Orthodox Church met in the name of the Lord to organize an
OCYM (Orthodox Christian Youth Movement) unit for our parish. St. Thomas
OCYM is the youth wing of our parish. The new spiritual organization was
welcomed by the parish with great joy and support. Since then, OCYM has
been a very active part of the parish organizing and conducting various
activities and programs for the parish. Our mission is to work together
to enrich our life as Christians through the three-fold path of Worship,
Study and Service.
We are successfully journeying through our 5th year in the parish. In
2008 we are planning to execute a variety of dream projects to serve the
name of the Lord and His Church. We plan to organize faith study
sessions, retreats, conventions, fund-raising activities, and many more…
We plan to reach the world with the Word of God volunteering and helping
those in spiritual and physical needs in and outside the parish.
All members in the Church between the age of 18 and 45 are expected to
participate in the OCYM. Regular Meetings are held on alternate Sundays
after Holy Qurbana in the committee room. We start with a prayer by
Achen or an elder member, and continue with a worship session with
spiritual songs, Bible reading and discussion, study classes, report of
the previous meetings, and a business session
