Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
After the many Great Lent and Holy
Week activities culminating in Easter, the rest of April appeared to
be rather quiet in contrast. Nevertheless, as Achen mentioned last
week, our church is a large and complex organization which even in
seemingly quiet times, requires the support of dedicated volunteers
to keep everything functioning smoothly. To illustrate this, I just
want to mention an incident which happened recently.
Two weeks back, a small water leak
was observed in the basement gym of the school portion of our church
building. While this was of concern, it was managed at the time by
mopping up and drying the area. However, over the course of a single
night enough water entered the area to flood the gym to a level of
six inches. As usual, our volunteers responded enthusiastically to
this crisis, arranging for and installing temporary rental water
pumps and hoses to remove the standing water. The next day, the
remaining water was mopped up in which our Achen also took part.
What a great effort by our members, especially the youth, to resolve
this problem! Our congratulations and gratitude go out to all of
them.
Many of us have skills and
knowledge which can be of great help to the church on a volunteer
basis. For example, our computer network was recently revamped with
the help of a member who
is an IT professional. Similarly, we have many operations and
activities which could use our members skills, help and advice, like
improvements in accounting and book-keeping, HVAC systems, building
maintenance, project management, etc. Please contact Achen or any of
us in the administrative team in this regard.
May God bless us all.
