Sixteen Committees are to be
constituted. The Vicar, Secretary and Treasurer will be ex-officio
members of all committees and will have overall supervision of all
committees and if any staff on the payroll. In future it will be ideal
that a member of the Managing Committee and Board of Trustees be the
coordinator for each of these committees.
1. Managing Committee:
The Managing Committee and the Board of Trustees elected by the General
Body will be the Executive body of the general administration of the
parish as stipulated in the Church Constitution.
2. Public Relation
Committee:
Parish Secretary should be the coordinator of this committee. Duties
include publicity, entertain new members, printing brochures,
newsletter, prepare announcements of PR nature from time to time, keep
inter-parish and inter-church relations in conjunction with the elected
representatives. This committee creates visibility and image of the
congregation. The parish website will be supervised by this committee.
3. Program Committee:
Duties include organizing programs for the parish such as picnic,
perunnal, special days of celebration, conventions, prayer fellowships,
workshops, training programs etc. This committee will coordinate
participation of the parish in different diocesan programs by MGOCSM,
Sunday School, Martha Mariam Samajam etc.
4. Finance Committee:
The Treasurer will be the coordinator of this committee. Duties include
fundraising using different means, encourage members to give their
regular contribution and dues to the parish, send reminders to members,
help when special collections are taken for the parish or others etc.
5. Building Maintenance Committee:
Assistant Treasurer will be the coordinator of this committee. Duties
include overseeing the physical condition of the building and the
premises, major installations such as heating and AC systems, propose
repairs, contact appropriate contractors, servicemen etc.
6. Charity Committee:
Assistant Secretary will be the coordinator of this committee. Duties
include collection of funds, review applications and recommend
disbursement to the Managing Committee. Collection of funds from inside
or outside the parish is expected and regular charity collection in the
church charity budget are to be handled by this committee.
7. Sports and Physical Activity Committee:
Duties include organizing various sports events inside the gymnasium,
organizing tournaments, recommending sports goods for the parish;
control the people using the facility for sports activity. The upkeep of
the gymnasium including ordering equipments and maintaining cleanliness
will also be taken care.
8. Building Upkeep Committee:
Duties include overseeing the cleanliness and appearance of the interior
and exterior of the building, supervise and or arrange lawn mowing, snow
moving, general conditions of the toilets, kitchen, hall, trash
management etc. Partially check the janitorial work inside and outside
the building.
9. Choir and Liturgy Committee:
Duties include training and presenting the choir for all
worship/sacrament occasions, conventions, retreats, prayer meetings, and
other related events. The Choir Committee will control both English and
Malayalam worship. Arranging books, or photocopies, maintaining the
electronic organ, the PA system, etc. will be also the duties of this
Committee.
10. Library Committee:
Duties include collection, organization and loaning books to patrons who
may include non-members of our parish. Receive donation of books or
money towards purchase of books and accession them for loaning to
members. Suggest important reference books for purchase.
11. Martha Mariam Samajam:
The primary goal of the Samajam is the spiritual development of the
women in our church. The above activities are only a part of the process
to reach spiritual fulfillment in our daily life. All women are welcome
to participate in the life of the Samajam.
12. MGOCSM:
Any student of a College or a High School who belongs to the Malankara
Orthodox Syrian Church shall be eligible to become a member of the
Movement. Any person other than a student belonging to the Church and
subscribing to the aims and objects of the Movement shall also be
eligible to become a member of the Movement
13. OCYM:
Young men and women beyond college education including young couples up
to age 35 and others interested.
14. Sunday School:
All teachers under the guidance of the Headmaster will prepare activity
chart for the Sunday School. Orthodox Vacation Bible School program will
be under the Sunday School administration.
15. Men’s Forum:
Organize under the guidance of the Diocesan Men’s Forum. Bible study,
prayer, songs, discussion of different topics will be planned.
16. Legal Advisory Committee:
This committee will study and report on legal issues that the church
faces from time to time. They will contact necessary persons such as
lawyers etc. and make proper reports to the Managing Committee. The
Church Secretary will work with this committee.
16. Couples’ Forum:
This forum will meet on Sundays and discuss various family issues facing
the families and suggest solutions. Discussion, Bible Study, singing
etc. will be part of their activities. |
